Sauna prices in Bali from Sauna Canggu, indicatively: a custom 2×2 m dry sauna IDR 60–120 million, an infrared cabin IDR 30–70 million, a prefab cabin IDR 15–35 million, a steam room IDR 50–100 million, a cold plunge with chiller IDR 45–90 million. USD figures are approximate at IDR 16,500 per USD; every project gets an itemised quote after a free survey.

What moves a sauna price up or down in Bali
- Wood grade. Pine and spruce sit at the bottom of each range, western red cedar in the middle, thermowood and full-glass fronts at the top. The wall build-up with foil and a vented gap is the same at every grade.
- Heater and controls. A 3.6 kW Harvia on manual controls versus a 9 kW Sawo or Tylö with a digital panel and remote start is a difference of several million rupiah, before the PLN question.
- Electricity. A PLN upgrade from 3,500 to 7,700 or 11,000 VA is applied for and paid by the owner and is not in our quote; the dedicated circuit, breaker and ELCB are.
- Site access. A cliff villa in Bingin reached by 80 steps, or a Seminyak lane a pickup cannot enter, adds carrying time. Panels are sized for two people, so it is labour, not a crane.
- Outdoor extras. Roof, raised base, hardwood deck and porch are why an outdoor cabin costs IDR 80–150 million against IDR 60–120 million for the same cabin indoors.
- Chiller size. ½ HP for a single villa tub, 1 HP for a studio tub or a 3–5 °C target; the larger unit is the top of the IDR 25–55 million chiller range.
- Distance. Delivery within Badung and Denpasar is included; Ubud, Gianyar and Karangasem carry a transport charge; the islands are by cargo boat on quote. Imported heaters reach Bali from Java by truck and ferry in 4–6 days.
Monthly running costs in Bali
At PLN residential rates, a dry sauna used four or five evenings a week costs typically IDR 200,000–500,000 per month, an infrared cabin IDR 100,000–250,000, a steam room IDR 300,000–600,000 and a cold plunge IDR 300,000–700,000, the last one mostly the chiller holding temperature through a 32 °C afternoon. A sauna plus plunge set therefore runs at roughly IDR 500,000–1,200,000 a month, which for a rental villa is usually recovered in the first two or three sauna-motivated bookings. Water for a plunge change every 3–6 weeks, a softener cartridge for a steam generator every six months and a yearly inspection are the other line items; we offer a maintenance schedule for villas managed remotely. Frequently asked questions
Why is the price a range and not a figure?
Because wood grade, heater, glass, access and distance move each item by 30–50 %. The quote you receive after the free survey is itemised to the rupiah: cabin, heater, electrics, delivery, installation, with the PLN upgrade shown separately as an owner cost.
How is payment structured?
A 50 % deposit when the quote and schedule are signed, which starts fabrication in the workshop, and the second payment when the cabin leaves the workshop for installation. Invoices are in IDR; USD figures on this page are approximate at IDR 16,500 per USD and for orientation only.
Are there cheaper saunas in Bali than these prices?
Yes, and some are fine for what they are: kit cabins advertised at IDR 30–50 million are easy to find. What is usually missing is the foil vapour barrier, the vented gap and stainless hardware, which is why the guide on salt air and mould is worth ten minutes before you compare quotes.
