Cliff villa above Bingin: compact infrared cabin and plunge by stairs

A two-bedroom villa on the cliff above Bingin, reached by ninety-odd concrete steps from the lane, on a 3,500 VA supply the landowner would not upgrade, and on tanker water. The owners, a surfing couple who rent the villa out when travelling, wanted a sauna and a plunge on the sunset terrace without a construction project.
We chose a two-person cedar infrared cabin drawing 2.2 kW, placed in the air-conditioned bedroom alcove off the terrace, on its own circuit with an ELCB, and a thermowood plunge on the terrace under the roof overhang with a 1 HP chiller sized to hold 5 °C in the wind and heat. Water goes through a pre-filter because of the tanker supply. Everything came down the steps as two-person loads in one morning with a four-person crew; the chiller was the heaviest single item at about 45 kg. Four days on site, including the electrical work, and the plunge was at 5 °C the following dawn.
